Testing 2 exhibtion trailers with the same setup. Power is provided by a generator with a main switch which runs to a consumer unit about 1 metre away. The consumer unit main switch is an RCD, the CU then houses 5 MCB's. Now theres no OPD placed between the generator and the consumer unit but is this a problem?.

4 16A MCB's and 1 10A MCB the generator is easily capable of this load. The consumer unit is fed with 25mm tails. Now BS7671 says overload protection may be placed along the run of a cable within 3 metres which it is. But the only overload protection provided are the MCB's.

Do you see a problem here? What code?. The whole installation is abit of a funny setup, Ive been scratching my head quite a few times with different problems thinking is this acceptable, and just left with this one.

Thanks.
