I recently telephoned our DNO & asked if the property I'm working on is in a PME area.
They eventually wrote back to say QUOTE: "Further to your recent enquiry I must inform you that PME earthing cannot be provided from the local electricity network in the area at this time.
However I can...
Hi wondered if anyone can help me fit this direct online starter as I am fairly new to working with motors and starters.
This is a link to the wiring diagram I am using

I am using the single phase connections but I'm not sure how the starter is...

Had a interesting scenario crop up this week when was asked if it was ok to take a new 10mm equipotential wire from gas pipe to outside earth stake onto a new earth clamp below the existing 16mm earth conductor clamp rather than go all the way back to the MET. If not ok can someone suggest a...

Not done industrial installation before and will be looking at a job in an automotive workshop on Tuesday needing (probably) about 10 metres of 20mm conduit, including up and over a doorway. First time for me with metal conduit so a few questions, if you don't mind....
There is existing metal...
Hi All,
Looking to fit a 10.5kW shower for a builder and he is virtually insistant that we use 16mm T&E as 'That's what he has been told to use in the past'.
The installation is in a bungalow so the run will be in the loft where I can clip it direct above the insulation. The run is about 15mtrs...

When walls are going to be dot and dabbed with the insulated plasterboard, what type of backbox is mostly used.
I was thinking of running my cables in as normal to position of sockets and switches, covering with capping/clipping to the masonary. Then if plasterer/builder bring the cable...
Evenin' all,
Just thought I'd pop this up as I know 'some of us' don't always take a direct Zs for every circuit and only do the calc. (in fact I take Zs for every outlet, some would say overkill:D)
It's the first one I've had, but a couple of days ago I had a 10/4 shower circuit with R1+R2 of...
When running surface mount T&E in offices and shops I have been in the habit of running it in conduit or mini trunking for the added protection.
Working along side another spark who asked why I bothered, he just clips direct along walls etc.
I realised that I could not remember why I started...
Was speaking to someone today who said they were upgrading there shower to a 8.5kw but not changing the cable which is a 6mm. He said it's a run of about ten meteres going through floorboards and up to switch. Surely this must be borderline? personally I would use a 10mm2 but just thought I...
Anybody know how easy it is to get the removable little corner sections for showers? Is there anywhere that flogs them, or is it best to go straight to the manufacturer? Are they even likely to help?
A bit of back stroy: Are you a Napit regisetered spark working out of Wirral? Did you have a...
Hi all, what a minefield! Just starting out and have recently created a quotation and iinvoice template but struggling to know where to start with Terms and Conditions. It seems some companies don't guarantee work to installations over X years old, won't cover any accidental damage, won't...
