hi folks,
Have recently started out as a self employed electrician in Scotland here and at the moment am not with Select or NICEIC (hoping to join next year).
Question is, do I need certain qualifications to work on commercial properties? From my understanding I realise that I cannot do...
I just got an email from a guy I know from way back, he owns a good sized plumbing and heating
company (also has many rental properties) and he has asked me to put together quotes various electrical works.
Mostly heating related.
I've not long gone out on my own so I'm trying to get a handle...

Just visiting from the plumbers' forum! When doing Landlord Gas Safety inspections I'm often asked if I do landlord electrical inspections as well. I don't, obviously, but when I checked with my sparky mate he reckons there is no such thing.
He says there is an installation safety...

Good afternoon all hope all is well, just a quick question to everyone and to get some feedback. How many agree that all domestic properties should have to have a 20% test done each year to comply with building insurance and make homes much safer? All thoughts welcome please gents and ladies!
Evening all. Just getting my fireproof trousers on ready for being shot down in flames......I try not to post too many questions on here as it highlights how little I know, but I'm doing my best to learn from others and my own mistakes and sometimes there's no-one else to ask. So here goes...
Just wondering, all my training was done towards the 17th edition so i have always known/installed RCD's were necessary in domestic installations.
My mum has recently moved house and when i went round to have a look, i naturally gave the mains a glance. TNC-S supply and a split load board with...
Hi,
I'm working with a piece of kit which is used to accelerate ions in the manufacturing of silicon chips. We generate 350KeV using a high frequency power supply and a high voltage stack, basically a Cockcroft Walton Voltage Multiplier.
Bit of advice I'm looking for is based on the fact that...

Are any of you guys benefiting from increased work where areas have been flooded? I was expecting a deluge (Pardon the pun) of remedial work but not much so far.

Hello all, first post so apologies if it’s in the wrong forum.
I wonder if someone could help me to determine if the bonding on a commercial district heating system is correct.
The gas boilers are situated in their own boiler house approximately 1000 meters away from a block of 12 storey...
I'm on with rewiring a front house in a back-to-back flying freehold property, where the top attic floor goes over the top of part of the house behind. I've got some floorboards up on the top floor, and the socket cables for this property runs alongside the lighting wiring for the house behind...
I've heard somewhere, possibly on here that at some point a annual ECIR on rental properties will be required.
Is this actually happening? If so can anyone point me to official docs
many thanks
