Hello guys, completely forgot to remove the board cover to check what type of rcbo was required for this particular Crabtree board. Anyone from experience know which type RCBO fits?
thanks in advance!!
Hi,
I just had a new 18th gen with surge protection installed. They disconnected the old cable and did a new run, the cert says 10 gauge was used but then I just had a different sparky who is looking to wire up my garage see it and say it should be 16.
Just wondering what is correct and should...
Have had an estimate accepted for a CU change in a 1980s bungalow. I based the estimate mainly on an EICR which was carried out on the property by another spark last summer, plus I had a quick look at the existing board, meter, and bonding.
The EICR has all circuits listed as ref method C...
It's a long shot, but do the mini hagar RCBO's fit this board? It's too small to fit standard RCBO's in, even if they lined up on the bus bar. Just trying to give an alternative to a new board to the customer!
Cheers all ?
Hi guys,
my brother is building a bar in his garden that is timber framed and wants some power to it.
The main board in the house has a pme earth and there a no spare ways in the board. From this board there is a 4mm t+e on a 32amp breaker off the rcd side supplying a board in a little out...
Doing a CU change yesterday, having purchased an 8 way Wylex board and 6 Wylex miniature RCBOs recently, and was about to fix the board until sods law, it's a stud wall and the screw holes don't align with the vertical battens. Decided the easiest thing to do would be get an 11 way. As I was...
Just looked at a board in a friends house next door to me . I have same board with only one rcd fitted . His has two fitted but I think the extra one has been added at a later date as rcd looks newer than everything else so his is now dual rcd board and everything is covered by rcd . I know you...
QR Codes have been around for 20 years and have pretty much been successfully used in special cases - scan the code to view the information or website. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak and the need for touchless access to information (think menus) and NHS tracking apps, the...
a fuse carrier is broken in 6way mem board with no rcd protection , it makes sense to upgrade to rcbos like other boards in the installation..
My question is , I'm nearly certain there is borrowed neutral on the lighting circuits and he won't want a wire fitted from kitchen to landing to...
Hi all. Changing a CU in an ex-council flat, pme system, no RCD's, and initially tried to IR test whole board L/N joined to earth, got a reading of 0.28 Ohms.
Then did each circuit individually (2 X RFC, 2 X lights, 1 X cooker), L/N joined to the circuit's CPC, and got between 0.25 and 0.30...
Hi everyone
quite new into the Inspection and testing world and still a learner and always strive to learn new things. I noticed in one property that tails coming from Meter into henley block which then feeds two consumer units.
My question is when you guys do EICR do you produce two separate...
I need to get 30mA RCD protection to a new circuit I am putting on this consumer unit.
I didn't take the cover off so I am not sure if there will be spare ways on the RCD side of it (wish I had checked!). It looks likely that there would be space, does anyone know if the RCD side of this board...
After updating a consumer unit, from an old rewireable fuse board, one of the socket circuits is tripping when under load. The property should have been rewired as the installation is so dated but the project manager and client didn't want to rewire it. The supply to the flat is approximately...
Before I tell a landlord that their CU needs replacing due to a snapped screw recess (that's how I found it but I know I'm going to be blamed for this), does anyone have a lid for a 14 module Steeple CU (rebranded GE E series)?
I thought about Araldite but I can't convince myself that is...
Hey,
Im looking to recreate the board work I did at college to refresh my wiring skills. I’m looking to rig up lighting circuits and ring circuits. I have cable, sockets and switches.
I was wondering how to power the consumer unit so I can test and measure my work?
Apologies if this has...
Has anyone had this issue before ? Was working on a three phase board, when I took the cover off I noticed a black spot on one of the rcbo’s. it happened to be smouldering and started to catch a light. I noticed another rcbo smouldering too. I instantly turned off the main switch as one of the...
Hi,
I am planning a house extension and will need to add 3 more circuits to my existing board. My current set-up is a metal CU with all circuits on RCBO's. Will I be able to add circuits to this board under 18th Ed or will i need a board swap to make room for all the extra surplus surge...
Hi guys
I recently had an electrical safety test and the electrician said he needs to replace the board because it's quite old.
The electrical board and all other electrical stuff is outside of my house in the landing. My question is, when replacing the board, does the electrician have to come...
Hi. What is the best way of joining a 10mm2 cable in the rear of a consumer unit (shower cable too short). I used a 60A choc block screw connector, but is there anything better suited? I use the yellow 6mm2 insulated crimps for 6mm2 cable
Thanks
